The elephant grass goes through a complex and time consuming preparation process before the weaving even begins, needing to be grown, harvested and dried before the stalks can be split and dyed to create the workable fibres. Once ready, a group of weavers from Bolgatanga and the surrounding local communities working under the name Atampoka Crafts begin the weaving process.
Once complete, every single one of the hand woven storage baskets is a unique item, featuring the character and personality inscribed through traditional weaving techniques used. The solid, durable materials ensure that the baskets can stand up to daily use, and are easy to wipe clean of any mess.
